LEGAL SUMMARY
For those of us who speak in normal English (not lawyer hash) here is a few of the most important parts of our legal information in informal terms:
1. Consignment Sales Agreement.
Bookshooter is a consignment business that aggregates its products to major retailers. In other words, Bookshooter helps their Contributors (Publishers and Authors who self publish) convert their books to ebooks and then sell them all over the web without ever assuming any ownership of the works.
2. Intellectual Property.
Bookshooter is not a publisher and doesn't own books. Bookshooter doesn't own the content submitted by its Contributors or assume any intellectual property rights, but it does receive a commission on each sale it makes to the public as a consignment broker, whether directly to Users of the Bookshooter.com website or to other retailers online.
3. Restricted Use of Products.
Bookshooter sells restricted-use ebooks to the customer, or User, of the site. You, the User of the website, can purchase ebooks for personal use only and expects you to never copy, resell, or redistribute it, in whole or in part, in any way. It's just like buying an MP3 song from an artist where it is illegal to share that in any way, but you can make backups for yourself, or copy it so you can play it on your portable devices, etc.
4. Bookshooter is Not Liable.
Bookshooter is not liable for anything silly or illegal you do with anything in or from this website, is not liable for anything on this site that offends you, is not in anyway liable to pay you anything for anything that is submitted to this site as content, comments, links, descriptions, etc. unless otherwise clearly stated in the official Publisher Agreement or User Agreement, and is not liable for anything any Contributor publishes that you don't like, ever.
5. Promotional Use Agreement.
All content on this site, regardless of source, is granted free license for Bookshooter's promotional use all over the known universe forever. Bookshooter will never use a whole work for promotional use, but does reserve the right to excerpt. Bookshooter is also granted the right to post a small, self-promotional note at the very end of the converted ebook file on a new blank page.
6. Satisfaction.
Though Bookshooter does not offer refunds on ebook purchases or services rendered, they do want to do everything possible to impress you with customer service. No matter what happens we are nice people who want you to be happy and we will do everything we can to keep you satisfied as a publishing Contributor or ebook purchasing User forever, and ever, within reason, amen.
7. Family Friendly Filter is Always On.
Bookshooter is a family friendly enterprise that reserves the absolute right to refuse any submission of content and to remove any content it finds less than family friendly. Bookshooter, alone, reserves the right to decide what is "family friendly" and does not share that judgement with anyone. Bookshooter's goal is to release beautiful works of written art to the public in an environment where even younger people can surf the catalog without fear of encountering obviously objectionable content.
